………..makes us happy!!

Readers, we have had some really drippy days around here lately.  It’s good for the plants, grass and trees but it’s bad for us and Mom.  We tend to get a little crabby.  Today is a brand new day!!!

Mom let both of us go outside and she came out and brushed us.  We listened to birds, smelled flowers, chased flying things and made sure Mom didn’t go pulling weeds and upset any of those stinging things.

Mom showed us these flowers and we all thought they were pretty.  The first picture is just a regular shot, but the second one, Mom messed around with her camera settings and they almost look like they would glow in the dark!

Mr. Peach

She also saw Mr. Peach blooming and showed that to us.  I think Mr. Peach has some of my colors!

Saturday black and white

I was resting on the deck and Mom took my picture.  Then she messed around with it and made it black and white.  She says my socks and bib are super white and she thinks I’m regal.

what is that

Here I am surveying the back yard to make sure there are no intruders.  I have to watch out for my little brother when we’re both outside.  Mom says he’s not as brave as I am.

up in the air

Hemingway, is that a bird up there or is it SuperCat?????

sunshine shot

I posed for Mom real nice.  She wanted to take a picture of me after she brushed out half my furs!

We’re going inside now to take a nap.  Maybe we’ll go out with Mom again later.

Have a great weekend, everyone!!!

Mom went out and took some pictures of the flowers in our yard.

Some of these flowers are outside of the fence so we never see them.

We think she should put more flowers in the back yard where we can see them.

We told Mom that and she said, “We’ll see.”  We’re pretty sure to humans that means……maybe in elebenty billion years.

Oh well, please enjoy our colorful world.

Mom was so excited when she got home ‘cuz it was sunny and really nice.

After a quick supper for all of us, she put my vest and leash on and we all headed outside.

Actually, I was already outside while you were still getting “dressed”.

Whatever….

We thought we would show you what we were looking at.

Mom wanted to take everyone on a tour of all the colors we have in our yard now.

You might ask why we aren’t taking you on the tour.  Well, some of the things are in the front yard and we aren’t supposed to leave the back yard.

You do that all the time!

Don’t tell the readers that.

Anyway, here’s another reason we aren’t outside:

That first step is a doozie!!!  Mom can’t even use the door now ‘cuz her legs are too short to navigate that route.  Her brother tore apart the deck and is putting in a new one.

Yes, Mom is using the front door now and that scares us!  We’re not used to having people we know come in that door.  Of course we also have trouble going in and out the back door now, too!

So Mom wanted to show us what’s blooming in the yard.  Here’s what she found.

These are some pretty little flowers in a basket.

Mom gets a little upset with us ‘cuz she can’t have fresh-cut flowers in the house.

We like to pull them out of the water.

Well, and sometimes we accidentally knock the vase over and water goes running all over the place!

We try to soak it up with our tails so Mom won’t know, but somehow she always knows!

That’s a Mom for you!

So, she took us around the yard and showed us that we have our very own flowers!

Mom calls this one a HI biscus.  She’s always saying “HI” to it when it blooms.

There are lots of little Mr. Hemingway petunias out there.  I wonder if they have white paws.

I like mine ‘cuz it’s really big.

We have to apologize for not taking time to wish everyone a Happy Fourth of July.  Blame it on Mom!  She got home from work early on Thursday but she went out and started working in the yard.  Then on the Fourth, there she was….doing the same thing!  At least she had us outside so we were busy telling her what to do.

That night she said she was going over to visit some friends so they could all watch the fireworks together.  We had no idea what she was talking about so we just stared at her (…as only we cats can do).

She told us to go around in the yard and look at all the colors and then imagine them up in the sky.

That’s just plain silly!  But we wandered around and looked at colors.

July 2014 Copy of P1030275 Copy of P1030278 Copy of P1030280 Copy of P1030282We tried to imagine what they would look like in the air and we couldn’t get our kitty brains to work that way.

It’s another strange human thing!

Then Mom brought these photos home so we could see what the fireworks looked like.

Fine.  Now we sort of understand.

Why don’t you just hang the flowers up higher and lie down on the ground to look at them?

Then you could celebrate the Fourth of July whenever you wanted!

Is Mom laughing????

Flowers for the FourthMom has this pretty basket of flowers and she said it’s to help celebrate the Fourth of July.

We have our own way of celebrating!

My foot is dirtyI’m going to start by making sure my feet are nice and clean.

Jungle KittyI’m going to do my best “Jungle Kitty” pose.

And we’re both just going to relax and enjoy the day!

Happy Fourth

Just Resting

We hope all of our readers have a wonderful Fourth of July as we celebrate our freedom.

Mom doesn’t want us going out of the back yard so we asked her to show us pictures of what she’s done in the front yard.

She told us we could share them with you.

Flowering CrabMom says this is a flowering crab.  We don’t understand how it can be so crabby when it is so beautiful in the spring.

Front Yard PlanterThis is one of the planters she has out front.  I think those yellow flowers would look better if I stood next to them.  My orange fur would make them stand out even more…..but Mom won’t let me go in the front yard.

Front Yard FlowersMom says this is a flower bed by one of the maple trees out front.  If it’s a bed, does that mean the flowers are sleeping?

Bleeding HeartMom calls this a bleeding heart plant.  I just don’t get it but I think it’s pretty.

PansiesThese are pansies and Mom actually has them in the back yard so we can enjoy them.  Thanks, Mom!

New HibiscusMom said this is her new hibiscus plant.  Look at that color……..it’s almost as gorgeous as me!!!  What’s even better is that she has it on the deck so I can sit and look at it.  I just love it!

Ethel and JackThis is Ethel and Jack.  They aren’t in our yard.  They are across the street playing in a mud puddle.  Mom told us we could not go play with them.

We hope you enjoyed our tour of flowers.  We’ll have to share more when the others start blooming.

Dear Readers, I believe I may have done something.  I think I’m being punished for what I did to Mom last weekend.  I don’t know what’s happening outside but I don’t like it!!

Nobody knows I'm hiding here and they can't blame me for what's going on outside!

Mom......what did Hemingway do????

Is that snow on the grass?

Look....the flowers are covered in snow!

Look….the flowers are covered in snow!

This is just not right!

This is just not right!

From the Mom:

Boys, don’t you remember last year when the tree behind us exploded and left “snow” all over the place?  Well, it happened again and since there wasn’t much of a breeze, it just sort of dumped in our yard.

To my boys’ faithful readers, I just want to give you an update on my leg.  I’m still on antibiotics and pain pills and the ankle is still quite red and swollen.  I was so excited yesterday because it actually felt like it was finally starting to heal.  I may have overdone things today and it is very painful tonight.  If it is still quite red and swollen on Monday, I’ll go see my doctor again and probably get more antibiotics.

Speaking from experience, don’t ever treat bites from fur people lightly.  They don’t mean to hurt us human moms and dads, but they have lots of germs in their saliva.  I have also learned not to spook Hemingway, especially when he’s in hunt mode.  Believe me, he is my “Gentle Giant” and I know if he really understood what he did to me he would feel just awful  Both boys mean the world to me and they are doing all they can to make me feel better.

Last April Snow

This was our glorious spring weekend:

Shakespeare....have you seen Axel outside lately? I wish he'd come out so we could run up and down the fence together.

From the Mom:  As you can see, the boys were so excited that spring finally came to our area.  They had so much fun outside.  Me?  Well, instead of pushing snow around I was raking up leaves and seed pods and checking to see what plants were starting to come up again.  Thanks to all of the boys’ friends who kept telling them that spring really would come again.  I hope everyone had as much fun as we did this weekend!
