…………on Blueberry Hill.

Hemingway, what’s a blueberry?

It’s something humans eat but you and I don’t.

So why am I singing about it?

Who knows……(sigh)

Wait…….is this a blueberry?

Blueberry Trip 8

Hemingway b and w

Yes it is.  Tell me again why you are disturbing my nap.

I know why I’m singing.

Great……..yawn…..

Remember last week when Mom left and took a road trip?  When she got back, she told us she had gone over to that other state and went way up on the river bluffs and picked blueberries at this really neat farm called Rush River Produce.

Blueberry Trip 4

Mom’s bucket when she just started picking.

Blueberry Trip 6

The barn looks so nice with all the flowers.

Blueberry Trip 7

Mom loves the views from this farm.

Blueberry Trip 9

Oh lovely blueberries.

Blueberry Trip 2

Some more of the flowers at the farm.

I remember how happy Mom was when she came back from her road trip.  Did you see all those blueberries she had?

I guess we should be helping her find a job but if she had been working, she wouldn’t have been able to take that trip ‘cuz she says weekends go too fast when you have a job.

I FOUND MY THRILL…………ON BLUEBERRY HILL…..

Steinbeck, a little less noise please.  zzzzzzzzzzzz

Mom said I can be the star today since Little One got to do it yesterday.  We’ve had all sorts of weather today.  We’ve had rain, wind, blue skies, sunshine, clouds.  We did manage to get outside for a bit but we had to time it very carefully!

Here’s my selfie for the first of July.

Check out all our other “furiends” at the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop hosted by our dear “furiends” at the Kitties Blue house.

Happy Caturday to everyone!  We’re joining Athena’s Blog Hop today and we’re looking forward to seeing what all our friends are doing.

Mom had this picture of me that she wanted to use.  She said I look rather grumpy.

Just Walk Away

I guess maybe I was.  I had been watching the birdies and someone called my name.  I hadn’t done anything wrong so I didn’t know why anyone was calling me.  Turns out Mom just didn’t know where I was since the blinds were shut to keep the heat out.

Here’s what Mom did with the photo.

imageedit_5_2516948059

Of course she used LunaPic to “dress up” the photo.  She said she did something real simple this time.  She just used the splash art effect and then added rounded corner.  My eyes still look a little grumpy but I like all the colors.

Check out our other friends at the Caturday Art Blog Hop.

Have you missed us?  We’ve been gone a really long time. We’ve been busy playing outside, eating catnip, chasing flying things, watching raindrops on the windows, patiently waiting for our meals, spreading our toys all over the house………

imageedit_8_9126984607

Stop, Hemingway!!!  You’re wearing me out.  Can’t  you just imagine what you’re doing to our readers?

Well, I didn’t want it to seem like it’s all Mom’s fault that we’ve been gone so long.

But it is mostly her fault.  It all started when she got older.  She couldn’t even stay home when she got older.  She had to take one of those road trips and leave us to celebrate her birthday on our own.

But she came back home and she spent some time with us since she took a couple extra days off.

Little did she know that she was going to be spending LOTS of time with us.

Shortly after her birthday, Mom came home a little early from work but she didn’t have a happy face.

We knew right away that something was wrong.

Mom sat us down and explained that her company former company had eliminated her position and she was out of a job.  She was really mad at first and really, really hurt.  We tried our best to take care of her and cheer her up.

So Mom’s been looking for another job and doing some writing on some book ideas she has.  That’s why she hasn’t been able to help us with our blog.  We’ve missed our readers.

Steinbeck, Mom figures that God still wants to her to use the skills, talents and abilities that He gave her so she knows He has something for her.  In the meantime she said she’s busy jumping through all the hoops for unemployment.

I haven’t seen any hoops lying around at all.  Does she keep them in the garage? I might like to jump through hoops.  Then again, I might not…….but I should get the chance…..

Steinbeck, sometimes it’s so hard to carry on a conversation with you.

I’m telling Mom that  you’re being mean again, Hemingway.

Quit whining and keep looking on the puter for a new job for Mom.  Do you think she would like to be a tree trimmer?

Hemingway, do we get a vacation?

imageedit_6_8625097896

Steinbeck, why are you asking such a question?  Mom would quickly tell you that every day is a vacation for you.  Mom has to go to work and I have to stay home and take care of you.  That means all you do is sleep, eat and play.

Is that a vacation?

Well, it can be.

Is that what Mom did when she went on that vacation last weekend?

Not really.  Mom was busy running around with her girlfriend, checking out neat restaurants, looking for fun things to buy and playing with her girlfriend’s dogs.

imageedit_3_6051781225

Trust me.  Playing with dogs is NOT a vacation!!!  What did the dogs look like?  Were they as cute as I am?

Give me a break.  Here’s a picture.  Each dog has a favorite toy as you can see.

imageedit_9_5967321064imageedit_12_7439689803

MOL!!!  I see what’s wrong with them.  They both look like you!

imageedit_1_9063337780

Mom………on your next vacation……….I’m going with you!  I know I hate to ride in the car but taking care of Steinbeck is getting harder and harder as he gets older.  I need a vacation!

Hemingway, I like having carburetors in my meals.

What on earth are you talking about, Steinbeck?

Well, remember when you had to go to the doctor’s house a little while ago?

Of course I remember.  I got a shot!

Yes, but you also got on that thing that tells the doctor how much we weigh.

I had no choice.  She made me do it.

Yes, but you’re way too chunky now and Mom said we can’t have that many carburetors in our meals now.  Besides, we don’t get our crunchy food now.  I like the canned food, but once the gravy is all licked off, I’m left with yuk!

imageedit_11_7620639123

I know what you mean.  I like the gravy but I have to be really hungry to eat the rest of that stuff.  I want our crunchy stuff back.  But Mom’s not making us cut back on carburetors.  We’re cutting back on carbs.

Well, if you didn’t weigh 23 1/2 pounds, we could have crunchy stuff with all those carb things!

Oh sure, blame it all on me.  Seems the doctor lady said you were a little too chunky for your own good, too.

imageedit_9_4292347420

Do you think the outdoor cat can order some food for us?

He looks like he’s on Mom’s side so he probably won’t do it.

imageedit_7_8876275077

Fine!  I’ll just chew on my carrot and pretend it’s crunchy good stuff with carbs.

Mom got so excited about her roses that she forgot yesterday was my birthday!  I’m two years old now!!!  Where has the time gone?

Mostly sleeping, Steinbeck.  You pretty much napped your two years away.

Did not!  I played with the red dot.  I chased the jingly balls.  I explored outside.  I looked out the windows.  I chased you around the house.  I jumped up on Mom’s lap for some purr time.  I ate.  I ran up and down the stairs.  I was a busy boy.

OK…..but during that running around time, you disturbed MY naps.

So that’s why you’re so grumpy?  Come on, let’s sing the birthday song.

Happy Catnip Day to me……..Happy New Toys Day to me….Happy Lots of Treats Day to meeeeeeeeee………Happy Two Years Old to ME!!!

imageedit_7_9772310227

We’re joining our other friends at the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop hosted by our dear friends.  Please check them out and have a wonderful weekend.

Mom got all excited ‘cuz her special roses are blooming.  So, she took a perfectly normal picture of me and added some animation to it.  I hope you like it.  I feel kind of silly being turned into a flower, but you know Mom!

Please join the rest of my friends at Athena’s Caturday Art Blog Hop.  Have a super great weekend!

Mom told us that today is National Brother’s Day.  Even though we aren’t really brothers, Mom tells us all the time that we are.  She adopted both of us and now we’re all one big happy (most of the time) family.

Brotherly Love

Hemingway………why do you have your fat paw on me in this picture?

It’s to keep you from running away from the flashy box.  That’s what big brothers do.  We protect our little brothers.

Oh…………thanks.  Did you tell our readers what Mom did last weekend?

Not yet, but I will.  Mom left us with her brother.  She just waltzed out the door and went on some road trip.

Didn’t she say she was going to I owe a way………..or something like that?

It’s Iowa, Steinbeck.

Well, it must be far away ‘cuz she was gone for a long time.

She was only gone for the weekend.

In my kitty brain, that’s a very long time!!!

Mom said we could share just a couple of pictures from her road trip.

She took a gazillion pictures!!!

imageedit_1_2000253662

This is the B and B she stayed at in McGregor, Iowa.  She said the owners were great fun and full of information.  The house has lots of history and they shared fun stories about their renovations.

imageedit_3_4158158522

This is downtown McGregor.  Mom said some of the buildings were really old and the architecture was neat.  A tornado went through the town last year but they all worked hard to fix up the buildings and it looks great.

imageedit_5_8916077423

This is the Mississippi River Valley as seen from Pikes Peak National Park just outside of McGregor.  Mom took lots of pictures up there ‘cuz she was so fascinated with the scenery.  She said the water was really high in comparison to other times.

I’m glad she didn’t take us with her.  That looks like lots of water and you know me…….I don’t like water!!!

imageedit_7_2387753851

Anyone who knows Mom knows that she loves taking pictures of dead buildings.  Believe me, she found lots of them on her trip.  However, this time she even found a dead ship!  She thought that was really cool.

We were both super happy when Mom got home again.  We like her to go out and have fun with her friends, but we also like her to stay home and play with us.

Thank you for looking at Mom’s pictures with us.  Remember to hug your brother today!

Image result for graphics of clowns

Steinbeck, why did you put a picture of a clown on our blog?

‘Cuz Mom said she was scoping out clowns yesterday.  That’s why she was gone most of the day.

No, no, no………

Yes, yes, yes……..

Steinbeck, Mom wasn’t scoping out clowns, she had to have a colonoscopy.  Didn’t you notice that she didn’t eat all weekend?

Now that you mention it, I didn’t notice her in the kitchen very much.  So what is that cold as a pea thing?

It’s not a very fun test, but Mom says it’s really critical to determine if a human has cancer.

April 14 Storm Steinbeck

MOM HAS CANCER????????????

No, no, no…….relax.  Her test was fine but she wouldn’t have known that if she hadn’t had the test.

Will we have to have one of those cold as a pea things?

No.  At least I certainly hope not.  Can you imagine spending all day and night in the litter box???

That’s why Mom was living in the bathroom?

Surrounded by ginger

Did you notice she wasn’t smiling much……….or even talking???

Hemingway, if Mom ever puts peas in our food dish……..

RUN!!!!

From the Mom:

Yes, I went through the torture of having a colonoscopy yesterday.  (I hope this isn’t TMI, but I do feel it’s important.)  The prep was really hard on me this time so next time, the doctor is going to change some of the things I have to take.  However, I’m glad it’s over and I’m glad they didn’t find anything serious.  Early detection is key and the fact I’ve had polyps in the past indicates I need to be alert.  Even though it’s no fun, I recommend everyone getting the test.  Oh, and I won’t be putting peas in the boys’ dishes.
