imageedit_6_8427436381Mom was laughing at me tonight.  She and I were sitting in the front room watching a little TV.  No, I have no idea where Steinbeck was.  He was probably running through the house like a mad cat, messing up all the rugs.

Anyway, back to me.  I had been sitting on Mom’s lap and we had been discussing the day.  Then I jumped down so I could roll on the floor and show her my tummy.  (She always likes to give me tummy rubs.)

Suddenly I saw a shadow go by the front window!  I sat up and growled!!

That’s when Mom started laughing.  She told me I had been spending too much time with the dogs who live behind and beside us.  She told me I was a kitty and not a dog.  Duh!  I know that!  Silly human.

I paid no attention to her.  I slowly walked over by the front door so I could look outside and see what made the shadow.  I growled some more and Mom laughed some more.

Then she finally got up and went to look.  Turns out a Boy Scout (not a Cat Scout) had left a flyer on the outside door handle and I could see it flopping around in the wind so even though no humans were at the door, I still had to growl.  You just never know what that piece of paper might do!

So I ask you…………don’t you all think Mom should be ashamed for laughing at her very own black and white alarm system??  How many other humans have such a unique thing in their house????

I rest my case……….and my body!

Mom said that my look expresses her feelings too.  That’s why she decided to let me use this picture for the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop.

For those of you who don’t know, we got hit with another winter storm over the weekend and got over a foot of new snow.  There will be mountains of snow all over the place until July!  Mom is really fed up and she keeps mumbling things about Hawaii.  We don’t know what she’s talking about, but we’re thinking she’s not happy with the weather people right now.

So, here’s what I think about all this snow and cold:

Then, after doing all sorts of LunaPic things to it, this is what she got.

We were afraid that we were going to wake up to more snow this morning but the storm went south and west of us so we didn’t get anything.  Mom was super happy about that!  However, we still have all those crusty mountains of snow that just won’t seem to melt.  We know spring is out there somewhere……..      Sigh

Check out our other friends at the Caturday Art Blog Hop and have a wonderful weekend!

I get to be the star today.  Mom thought she should be nice to me after scaring me by coming home early that day.  So, she started out with this picture of me.

Hemingway b and w

Now personally, I think this is pretty classy.  But you know Mom.  She has to go and LunaPic it all over the place.  This is what she ended up with:

As usual, she’s not sure what all she did with it but I think it looks like I swallowed a flashlight.  MOL!!

While I know Hemingway loves me, I think he showed me yesterday that he doesn’t trust me.  I had two appointments yesterday afternoon so I left work early.  When I finished my first appointment I had plenty of time to go home and relax before the next appointment.

I unlocked the door and walked in.  There were no cats to greet me at the door.  I found that rather disturbing.  They are always at the door when I come home.  I started to walk towards my bedroom and suddenly Steinbeck came out, yawning and stretching.  I looked at him and asked if he was a sleepy boy.

Then I looked in my bedroom and there was Hemingway happily hogging the middle of the bed.  I asked him if the two of them were having a pajama party while I was at work.  He just stared at me with those big green eyes.Hemingway Bright Eyes Small

I went to check on the mail and I noticed Hemingway kind of sneaking out of my bedroom.  I figured he was going to check on his food dish but that wasn’t what he had in mind.  I looked for him and found him underneath the dining room table.  I picked up the tablecloth and asked him what he was doing.  Again, I got the green-eyed stare.  Then it suddenly dawned on me what was happening.  I had come home at a different time.  Hemingway knew I had left work early and he figured that meant he was going to have to go to the doctor’s house.  The last time I came home early from work, that’s what happened.  He remembered that very clearly and he wasn’t about to fall for one of my tricks again.

I confess………I laughed.  Then I looked under the table and told him not to worry.  I wasn’t taking him anywhere.

I left for my appointment and when I came back, both boys were at the door to greet me.  You see, by then it was around the time I normally come home from work.  So, I guess next time I have an appointment, I’ll just have to take the entire day off so I don’t stress Hemingway by coming home too early.  Fine by me!

What a week!  I was so embarrassed I couldn’t even talk about it until now.  Mom said I could put my art up today so let me start with the normal picture.

Ruff Day for Hemigway 2

Mom went to work Thursday morning and Steinbeck and I did our normal things.  We found sun puddles and started napping.  Shortly after that, Mom came in the house again.  I looked at her and wondered why she was home so early.  Then my mental acuteness kicked in.  I knew this was trouble and the trouble was going to involve me!

Mom tried to pick me up off the floor and somehow she managed to fall flat on her face.  I scooted away but Steinbeck stood there and wondered why she was on the floor.  She finally got up and started looking for me in all my favorite hidey spots.  I had her fooled.  Then she asked Steinbeck where I was.  That little squirt ratted me out and led Mom right to where I was hiding!!  Can you believe it??

We finally got to the doctor’s house.  (Yes, I had figured out that’s where we were going.)  Mom had trouble getting me out of the car.  She doesn’t put me in a carrier ‘cuz I weigh 22 pounds and normally I’m really calm.  I was calm this time but I was super slippery.  I turned myself into oil and Mom just couldn’t hold me.  I found my moment to escape and I went under her car.  She was in the parking lot walking all around the car and kneeling in the snow and ice.  I kind of felt sorry for her ‘cuz she’s told me that she has fake knees and it’s hard to kneel.  However, I didn’t feel sorry enough to come out from under the car.  Mom walked into the doctor’s house and told them I was there but I was under her car and wouldn’t come out.  They know me there and Mom said there was a little laughing.  Hmmmmmmmmmm

Next thing I knew, Marcus came out with this big net.  I wondered if he was going to try to catch a fish or a butterfly.  Surprise!  He used it to catch me!!  Do I look like a fish or butterfly??  He picked me up and carried me into the clinic and even though I voiced my opinion, I didn’t try to get loose.

What was my problem?  It’s so embarrassing!  I had dirty pants.  I have long fur and sometimes it gets matted back there ‘cuz I won’t let Mom brush me or trim me there.  She can brush me all over but not there!  So, I was ready for a trim and a little cleaning.  They also checked those nasty anal glands and made sure I didn’t have any infections.  I won’t admit it out loud but I did feel better after they took care of me.

When we got home, I showed Mom what a good kitty I am.  She opened the back door of her car and I calmly walked out.  Then I walked to the gate and waited for her to open it.  I walked through the gate and right up to the back door and waited for her.  No problem at all.  However, I did go hide once we were inside.  I didn’t want to discuss what had happened with Steinbeck and I didn’t want to hear him laughing.

When Mom came home again at night, I was speaking to her again and I even slept with her.  It was such a ruff day but I’m all better and Mom is happy that I’m all clean.  Oh, that Marcus said something about me losing weight.  That wasn’t necessary!

So, here’s my Caturday Art picture for the day.  I hope I didn’t bore you with my antics.

Hi, Readers!  Mom’s home today and now she’s seeing what our days are like.  We play hard in the morning and then we nap.  Mom caught me with one of the toys that I had pulled out of the toy box.  She thought I looked so cute.  Then she used LunaPic to change it and make it all arty.  She did all this while I continued to sleep.  Steinbeck was sleeping way up on top of the computer desk so he wasn’t even bothering me………for a change!  I hope you enjoy the picture.

Here’s the original one:

Here’s how she changed it:

Mom said I could do the selfie today.  She and her brother sometimes laugh at me ‘cuz I sit and stare at dirt.  I love doing it and I always have.  This is one of my favorite pots.  I just sit and stare and think about wonderful things.  I talk to Shakespeare and ask him how all our friends are doing on the Other Side of the Rainbow Bridge.  I talk about the weather and how cold it is.  I talk about the little one, Steinbeck.  Believe me……..he’s not so little when we’re wrestling!  Dirt listens to me and it understands me.  What’s so wrong with that?

Here’s the original picture before Mom messed around with it.

I decided to post my “Mr. Charismatic” look today.  Mom says she loves my shiny black furs and my white furs that look like snow.  We don’t have any snow here yet and that’s really strange.  Mom hasn’t even been turning on her “bun warmers” in the car.  I still sleep on her head at night just in case she might get cold.

I hope you enjoy my selfie and I hope everyone has a fantastic week!!
