We have a window.  From this lovely perch (not the fish kind), we can see all sorts of things.

Side by side

Sometimes we see doggies walking on OUR street!

Steinbeck, don’t be selfish.  Sometimes we see birdies and butterflies.

There goes a birdie now!

Oh……..and remember the kitty I saw underneath the window?

Yes, that is the kitty who lives next door.

I’ve even seen squirrels running around the flowers, looking for stuff from the bird feeder.Steinbeck looking up 2

I had my mouth open and Mom said a fly might go in there!  YUK!!!

Hemingway dreaming

Sometimes I get to sit quietly at the window all by myself.  I dream of a world without orange.  I dream of a front yard filled with catnip.  I dream of peace and quiet.  (Mom says sometimes she dreams of that, too……especially when I wake her up at 4:30 in the morning!)

Surrounded by ginger

However, the reality is that I’m surrounded by orange!  Even the table kitty is orange!

Side by side 2

I guess it’s really not that bad.  I do have my little brother to help me look out the window.  Sometimes he warns me if there’s something spooky out there, but most of the time he’s just busy looking all over the place.

So, that’s the “tail” of our window.  Don’t worry.  We actually have plenty of windows but this one is our favorite.  We can see when Mom comes home from work.

Hemingway, do you hear Mom getting something out of our treat drawer??????

Hemingway and I stayed inside today ‘cuz it’s a bazillion degrees outside.  Even Mom said it was miserable.  She says the weather is all confused since yesterday was the first day of fall.

Well, my buddy and I are just chillin’ today.

Not Me

Hey Steinbeck……….guess what!  I don’t see Mom at the puter but it’s turned on.

DSC_0169

But I just finished eating and after I clean my face, I need to take a nap.  Still…………..we don’t often get this chance.  So, what should we talk about?

DSC_0171

I know!!!  We can talk about my pretty feet.

Nobody wants to see your stinky feet.  Maybe we could do a lesson on the art of hiding!

Me first!

I'm hiding

Nobody knows where I and I’ll never be found.

Goofball!  You forgot something!!  I can do better than that!

hemingway hides

Hemingway……..you forgot something, too!

Boys!  What are you doing?  Who said you could play with the puter?  Oh, and by the way, neither one of you should be teaching a course on hiding!

Mom’s been really busy again so we haven’t been able to convince her to turn on the puter for us.  Sorry we’ve been quiet.

HA!  Mom wouldn’t say we’ve been quiet!!

Anyway, we wanted to do a selfie today so she said we could.

Selfie

Look!  She made us look like we were drinking something out of a funny container.

I don’t know what that is but I’m sure we’re both too young!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Happy Caturday to everyone!  We had something very unusual happen at our house today.  There was a parade that went right by our house complete with drums, horns, and a FIRETRUCK!  Mom went outside but we stayed inside and watched from a safe distance.  We decided to let the firetruck be the subject of our caturday art today.  Here’s Mom’s original picture:

Here’s after she “artified” it with LunaPic.  She said she’s sorry but she wasn’t paying attention to what all she did.  (Typical….MOL!)

Mom got me all excited about taking a field trip tonight.  She put my blankie in the box I like to play in and she even put a toy in there.  Then she put me in there!  Next thing I know I’m in the car and we’re going somewhere.

This doesn't smell like home

I don’t think I like the smell of this place.

When she finally let me out of my box, I knew I was in trouble.

What makes you think I'm mad

I’m not happy about this so called field trip idea of yours!

I'm going to keep singing the song of my people

No I will not stop singing the song of my people.  In fact…..I may sing it even louder!

I found a chair to hide behind where nobody could see me.  If you notice, there’s a treat on the floor.  The doctor lady tried to bribe me with a stupid treat but I didn’t fall for it.

Nobody can see me behind this chair

Then the doctor lady came to talk to me and she was being all nice and friendly.

Can't you tell I'm trying to hide

Call me squishy face

I even had to do a squishy face for them!

Think light

I tried to distract them so they wouldn’t see how much I weighed.  Here I am thinking really light.  It didn’t work.  Would you believe I weigh 12 pounds!!!  The doctor lady said I could lose a little weight.  How rude!

I'm running away from home

Maybe I should run away from home.  I can’t believe that doctor lady said I should lose weight!  Only Hemingway needs to lose weight.  Not me!!!

Don't care about the window view

Mom!  I don’t like your idea of a field trip at all.  Don’t ever try to pull that on me again.  Now let me eat and leave me alone.

From the Mom:  Tonight Steinbeck made more noise than he ever has.  Usually at home he just has this quiet little squeak.  Now I know that he’s been hiding a very loud voice.  Oh boy can he sing the song of his people at the top of his lungs!!!  He’s not Mr. Mellow Cat at the doctor’s house like Hemingway is, but they all love him there ‘cuz he’s so soft and fluffy.  He did great with his shots and his nail trim and I was very proud of him.  He was pronounced fit and healthy so he doesn’t have to go back for a year.

Oh My

Well, it’s Labor Day.  Mom is not doing any labor and neither are we.

Anyone in the kitchen

Mom could at least labor in the kitchen and make us a catnip pie.

I don’t think she’s going to do that.  However, did you see that we had visitors?  Mom said we couldn’t go outside while our cousins were here.

I slept through it all.

I did a little bit of a growl when I saw Stella but that’s because she’s so big and I’m supposed to protect the house.

Stella Bear

There’s Stella lying on OUR deck!!!

Robert and Static

Look……..there’s Uncle Bob letting Static lean on him.  Now he’s going to have doggy smells all over his clothes.

Stella Good Girl

Would you believe he’s telling Stella she’s a good girl?  More doggy smells!!!

Here’s a picture of Stella and her mom.  See how much Stella loves Mom’s niece?  Theresa has had Stella since she was a little puppy.

Stella and Mom

She was little????

Way back, long before you were even born.

Well, I’m glad Mom and her brother had some fun visitors today.  Now I’m going back to sleep.

Happy Labor Day, Everyone!!!

Hey everyone!  it’s time for the Sunday Selfie Blog Hop with our friends.

This is supposed to be Labor Day Weekend, but we think Mom considers it napping weekend.  She’s sure not doing that much labor!

She’s been out in her hammock reading.  At least she let us come outside, too.

When Steinbeck grabbed the flashy box when I was trying to take a nap, I got kind of upset.

I wanted to get a picture of you in a goofy pose.

Look who’s talking!

Well, we hope everyone is having a delightful weekend!
